Environmental Pollution Avoidance

Environmental pollution avoidance efforts must take into account that marine environmental Pollution sources vary in size, origin, and nature of the pollutants.  It should further be stressed that environmental pollution sources are by no means limited to major accidents. Marine environmental hydrocarbon pollution sources can be classified into the following types of environmental concerns:
(i) Oil exploration and production derived environmental pollution;
(ii) seaborne transportation of oil derived environmental pollution;
(iii) General maritime traffic and shipping operations derived environmental pollution;
(iv) Coastal activities derived environmental pollution;
Although events deriving from (i) and (ii) are the cause of the big oils leaks covered by the media, it is (iii) and (iv) that cause the greatest hydrocarbon leakage into the environment. How can this ongoing, accumulating environmental pollution be avoided?

Environmental pollution regulations increasingly encourage businesses to utilize on-line, automatic oil spill monitoring to provide an early alert that will address environmental concerns.

environmental pollution regulations

The law in Australia, the UK and other countries does not place any upper limit on the liability of operators of offshore petroleum facilities in terms of the clean-up and remedial costs resulting from oil spills. Civil penalties, criminal offenses, and actions in tort may also be applicable.

Oil companies are required to have adequate insurance coverage for the expenses and liabilities that may arise from oil spills. Although, there are not, as yet, environmental pollution regulations specifically requiring operators of petroleum and gas facilities and transport ships to employ automatic hydrocarbon leak detector systems, permit provision, oversight, and the liability caps of operators are all influenced by the extent precautions are taken to comply with environmental protection and prevent and detect hydrocarbon leaks.

Environmental protection

By employing hydrocarbon leak detection solutions, you can do your part in environmental protection, limiting the scope of accidental spills, preventing them in advance by tracking the effect of changed procedures and processes on leaks, and generally contributing to environmental pollution avoidance.

The commitment of LEAKWISE to being your environmental protection partner transcends merely supplying you with the device. Following each and every intervention or maintenance on your site LEAKWISE technicians will systematically analyze any damaged products at our headquarters. If the product cannot be repaired then we will ensure that it is recycled by an operator specializing in the handling of environmental waste, in full compliance with all environmental protection standards. This is just our way of doing our part in limiting greenhouse gas emissions and combatting climate change.
